I have been on the search for the perfect planner for what feels like FOREVER! While technology is great, and I use my phone for a lot of things, I really love a paper planner. Things stick much better in my mind when I write them down, and I like having a place to see the month at a glance, and a spot for a more detailed view of my day. However, I've felt a little bit like Goldilocks, trying to find the one that is just right.
Some are too big, some are too small, some are too heavy, some have covers that fall off, some don't have a layout that I like... it is a challenge to find that perfect planner that works just right for your life! I know we are only a little over a month into 2018, but I think I have finally found my planner dream team!
The things that I've been looking for in a planner are:
- durable enough to go everywhere with me
- light enough to not make my bag super heavy
- big enough to write down plenty
- a layout that includes the month at a glance + a space for each day
- a pretty cover
In the past I've tried various Target planners, the momAgenda, Erin Condren, and May Designs. They were all good, but none of them were quite the perfect fit. I liked that the momAgenda had space to keep track of kids calendars, but I didn't feel like I had enough space for myself. Erin Condren worked for me for a while, but my covers always fell off, they were SO HEAVY to carry around, and the layout wasn't quite right for me. I LOVE the notebooks from May Designs, and I tried the large agenda, but it got way too bent and beat up in my bag and the layout didn't have what I was looking for.
This year, I finally feel like i have cracked the code. I asked for Powersheets for Christmas, because I'd been hearing how great they were for goal setting, but I knew I would also need a daily planner. I'd looked at the Day Designer online before, but when I saw the Target version, I decided to give it a try.
Y'all, I'm in love!
It's a great size, easy to throw in my bag, and has held up well so far. There are several gorgeous cover options, and the layout - the layout is exactly what I didn't know I wanted! I've never gone for the hourly layouts before, because I always have random things I want to add to my planner, and it bothers me if they are taking up a time slot. The to do list right beside the hourly times solves this problem! A spot for dinner, plus gratitude and your top 3 priorities for the day - seriously amazing! There is a monthly calendar at the beginning of each month, and a spot for notes at the end. It is working SO WELL for me!
Add in the Powersheets, and I've got a planning dream team! The Powersheets are a little bigger and heavier, so I don't carry them around with me, but I don't need to. They are more to help get my priorities straight and my overall goals figured out - I can transfer relevant things into the Day Designer as necessary. I'm only a month into using them, but I am really loving them so far!
The combo of the Day Designer + Powersheets has really been helping me in figuring out my priorities, and scheduling them. I really like that the Day Designer has a spot for your top 3 most important things to do each day, so even when your to do list is overflowing, you can see at a glance what your priorities for the day are.
While I'm loving my Target version this year (personalized with a monogram decal from our shop available here), I'm already planning to upgrade to the flagship version next year!
